Product Description
Step into timeless sophistication with Esco Herringbone Smoked Basecoat, a stunning engineered herringbone floorthat beautifully combines traditional parquet style with the warmth of natural smoked oak. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s most trusted supplier of engineered flooring and herringbone floors, this 15mm rustic-grade design is the perfect choice for homeowners who want the luxurious look of real hardwood with the modern benefits of engineered construction.
Each block of Esco Herringbone Smoked Basecoat is expertly smoked to enhance the natural colour and grain of the oak, deepening its warm brown tones and adding rich, earthy depth. This smoking process brings out the natural variations in the wood, giving every piece a one-of-a-kind character. Finished with a UV oiled coating, the surface is smooth and beautifully matte, offering a protective layer that keeps the wood looking elegant while allowing it to retain its natural texture and charm. The UV oil penetrates deep into the grain, nourishing the timber and enhancing durability while creating a soft, organic feel underfoot.
As a rustic grade floor, Esco Herringbone Smoked Basecoat celebrates everything that makes real oak special — from visible knots and mineral streaks to the unique grain patterns that tell the story of the tree. These details give your floor an authentic, handcrafted look that adds warmth and character to any space. Whether you’re designing a luxurious modern home, restoring a period property, or fitting out a commercial space, this floor adds timeless appeal that never goes out of style.
Engineered for strength and reliability, this 15mm multi-layered construction provides superior stability and performance, especially suited to the Irish climate. Unlike solid oak, engineered flooring resists the natural expansion and contraction caused by changes in humidity and temperature, making it a practical yet elegant choice for Irish homes. The thicker profile also enhances underfoot comfort and ensures long-lasting durability.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Engineered Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Esco Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
