Product Description

Embrace the perfect blend of tradition and contemporary design with Esco Gothic Brushed, a truly stunning engineered wood floor that showcases the timeless beauty of oak in all its natural glory. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered flooring and hardwood floors, this 14mm rustic-grade oak floor combines rich character, handcrafted detail, and long-lasting performance — making it the perfect foundation for any Irish home.

Each plank of Esco Gothic Brushed is stained and deeply brushed to enhance the natural grain and texture of the wood, creating a beautiful interplay of light and shadow across the surface. The brushing process removes the softer fibres, exposing the oak’s unique texture and bringing out its natural depth and definition. Finished with a UV oiled coating, the floor gains a smooth, velvety sheen that highlights its rustic tones while offering excellent protection against daily wear and UV fading. The oil finish allows the wood to breathe naturally, developing a rich patina that only becomes more beautiful with time.

As a rustic grade floor, Esco Gothic Brushed celebrates the authentic imperfections of real oak — knots, natural colour variations, and distinct grain markings that tell the story of the timber’s life. This characterful detailing gives each plank its own personality, creating a floor that feels organic, timeless, and full of warmth. Whether used in a modern apartment, a restored period property, or a family living space, this floor adds depth, charm, and individuality.

Engineered with precision and performance in mind, this 14mm multi-layered construction ensures exceptional stability and strength. Unlike traditional solid wood, engineered flooring is built to withstand Ireland’s fluctuating climate, resisting movement caused by temperature and humidity changes. This makes Esco Gothic Brushed a practical yet elegant choice for Irish homes, offering all the beauty of solid wood with the dependability of modern engineering.

Installation is simple and versatile thanks to the tongue and groove system, allowing the floor to be either floated over an underlay or glued directly to the subfloor for a secure, seamless finish. The result is a durable, visually stunning floor that feels solid underfoot and will last for generations.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Esco Engineered Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
