This isn’t just a floor; it’s a design statement that brings the “shabby chic” and industrial aesthetics to life. Featuring a sophisticated grey/brown oak colour palette, this floor masterfully blends cool modern tones with the deep warmth of traditional timber. Its very rustic style—complete with realistic knots, cracks, and grain variations—gives any room an instant sense of history and character.
At Floorstore Direct, we have solidified our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy laminate flooring. Whether you visit our premier showrooms in Galway or Tullamore or shop our extensive online collection for fast nationwide delivery, we provide the expert guidance and high-quality Kronotex flooring that Irish homeowners trust for their most ambitious renovation projects.
Why Choose Dynamic Wide Barn Oak 8mm?
In modern interior design, the “Wide” plank format is a total game-changer. By using broader boards, you reduce the number of visible seams, creating a continuous, expansive look that makes even compact rooms feel significantly more grand. But the Barn Oak 8mm laminate offers much more than just a spacious feel:
-
AC4 Durability Rating: This floor is built for the “beautiful chaos” of real life. It is engineered to resist scratches, scuffs, and heavy foot traffic, making it the ideal choice for busy living rooms, hallways, and kitchens.
-
Aesthetic Versatility: The grey-brown hues act as a perfect neutral. It pairs effortlessly with bold navy walls, industrial metallic accents, or soft, cream textiles.
-
German Engineering: Manufactured by Kronotex, this floor features a high-performance Clic system that ensures a tight, professional fit, making installation a breeze for both DIY enthusiasts and trade pros.
-
Nature-Inspired Texture: You don’t just see the rustic detail; you feel it. The surface texture mimics the weathered nature of real barn wood.

Ask a Question
1. Does the rustic texture make the floor harder to clean? Not at all. Despite the realistic knots and "cracks" in the design, the surface is completely sealed and non-porous. A regular sweep and a damp microfiber mop with a dedicated laminate cleaner will keep it looking pristine.
2. Can I install this 8mm floor over underfloor heating? Yes! Dynamic Wide Barn Oak is fully compatible with water-based underfloor heating systems. Its 8mm profile allows for excellent thermal conductivity, keeping your home cozy and warm during the Irish winter.
3. Is the "Wide" plank format suitable for smaller hallways? Actually, it’s a designer secret! Fewer break lines across the floor can trick the eye into seeing more space, making narrow hallways or small bedrooms feel wider and less cluttered.
Recommended Underlay
The underlay you choose for your new floor can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Kronotex laminate floor is pretty much the same as with all Laminate Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
