If you are looking to ground your home with a sense of permanence, luxury, and rich architectural depth, Coretec XL End Fonteneau is the ultimate choice. This isn’t just a standard vinyl floor; it is a heavyweight masterpiece of design. Featuring a stunning dark oak colour, Fonteneau offers a sophisticated palette of deep, chocolatey tones and intricate grain patterns that bring an immediate “stately home” feel to the modern interior. Its 228mm wide planks provide a grand appearance that adds a sense of curated luxury to any room, from expansive open-plan living areas to intimate, moody bedrooms.
At Floorstore Direct, we have built a reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy LVT and SPC flooring. Whether you are visiting our premier showrooms in Galway and Tullamore or utilizing our fast nationwide delivery, we specialize in providing elite Coretec flooring solutions to Irish homeowners who demand a perfect balance of heritage aesthetics and 21st-century performance.
The 15mm Revolution: Why Thickness and SPC Matter
The “XL End” series represents the absolute summit of SPC flooring technology. While standard floors often feel lightweight, Coretec Fonteneau boasts a massive 15mm total thickness. This substantial profile provides the solid, premium “thud” underfoot usually reserved for heavy solid hardwood, while remaining completely “life-proof.”
Key features of this Coretec LVT include:
- 100% Waterproof Resilience: Engineered for the humid Irish climate, this floor is immune to spills, leaks, and moisture—making it the dream choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms.
- Eco-Friendly Cork Backing: Sustainability meets comfort. The built-in cork underlay is a renewable resource that provides natural thermal insulation, keeping your home warmer while offering incredible sound reduction.
- Deep Oak Aesthetic: The rich, dark hues are perfect for creating contrast against light walls and are exceptionally good at masking everyday micro-scratches.
-
Extreme Stability: The rigid Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) core ensures your floor stays perfectly flat and resists indentations from heavy furniture or high foot traffic.

Ask a Question
1. Does the dark colour of Fonteneau show dust easily? Actually, the complex graining and "smoked" characteristics of the Fonteneau decor are surprisingly forgiving. Unlike flat, dark surfaces, the natural oak textures help to camouflage light dust and pet hair, making it a practical choice for busy homes.
2. Can I install this 15mm floor directly over tile? Yes. One of the greatest advantages of the extra-thick 15mm SPC core is its ability to bridge minor imperfections in the subfloor. It can often be installed directly over existing hard surfaces without the grout lines telegraphing through to the surface.
3. Is the cork backing suitable for allergy sufferers? Absolutely. Cork is naturally antimicrobial and hypoallergenic. It does not trap dust or mites like carpet or some synthetic underlays, and because it is integrated into the plank, it creates a hygienic, breathable base for your floor.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
