The 15mm Powerhouse: Why Thickness and SPC Matter
The “XL End” series represents the absolute summit of SPC flooring technology. While standard vinyl floors often feel thin or lightweight, Coretec Chantilly boasts a massive 15mm total thickness. This substantial profile provides the solid, premium “thud” underfoot usually reserved for heavy solid hardwood, while remaining completely “life-proof.“
Key features of this Coretec LVT include:
-
100% Waterproof Resilience: Engineered for the humid Irish climate, this floor is immune to spills, leaks, and moisture—making it the dream choice for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms.
-
Eco-Friendly Cork Backing: Sustainability meets comfort. The built-in cork underlay is a renewable resource that provides natural thermal insulation, keeping your home warmer while offering incredible sound reduction.
-
Striking Black Aesthetic: The deep, dark tones create a high-contrast, boutique-hotel feel that highlights your furniture and decor like no other floor can.
-
Extreme Stability: The rigid Stone Plastic Composite (SPC) core ensures your floor stays perfectly flat and resists indentations from heavy furniture or high foot traffic.

Ask a Question
1. Does a black floor like Chantilly show every speck of dust? While dark floors are known for showing light debris, the Chantilly features a subtle, realistic oak grain texture. This textured finish helps to diffuse light and hide minor dust much better than a flat, matte black surface, making it surprisingly practical for a busy home.
2. Is the 15mm thickness compatible with underfloor heating? Absolutely. Despite being extra thick, the SPC core is a fantastic conductor of heat. The natural properties of the built-in cork backing also help retain warmth, making it one of the most energy-efficient flooring options for heated subfloors.
3. Will the black colour fade in rooms with lots of sunlight? No. Coretec floors are engineered with a high-performance, UV-resistant wear layer. This ensures that the deep, rich black oak tones of your Chantilly floor remain vibrant and consistent, even in south-facing rooms with significant sun exposure.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
