ABOUT CORETEC:
All Coretec Floors are 100% waterproof, kid proof and pet proof. Suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms, they won’t warp or buckle even if fully submerged in water. The 8mm thickness (unheard of in vinyl floors) provides structure and stability that cannot be matched. Coretec is easy to install, care for and clean and can be fitted on top of any hard surface.
CORK UNDERLAY:
Cork is a natural product that is one of the most sustainable materials around. It is harvested from the cork tree and can be re-harvested every decade without any damage to the tree. This makes it ideal for todays ecological concerns. The benefits of cork don’t just stop there. It is warmer, quieter and conceals imperfections better than most other underlays. Cork will also provide you with a natural protection against mould and mildew.

Ask a Question
1. Does the "Matterhorn" tile require a perfectly level subfloor like traditional large-format porcelain? While large porcelain tiles often "crack" or "lip" if the subfloor has even minor dips, Matterhorn is far more forgiving. Thanks to its 8mm rigid Sound Core®, it can bridge slight imperfections in a concrete screed or existing hard flooring that would usually require expensive self-levelling compounds. However, for the best result in Irish renovations, we still recommend ensuring the surface is "structurally sound" and clean before clicking the tiles into place.
2. How does the "integrated grout line" in Matterhorn handle heavy cleaning and steam mops? Matterhorn features a 4-sided bevel that creates a realistic "pencil-style" grout effect. Unlike traditional sand-and-cement grout, which can crumble or discolour if exposed to a steam mop or harsh chemicals, Matterhorn’s "grout" is part of the waterproof tile itself. It is non-porous and will never harbour mould or mildew. While steam mops are generally discouraged for many vinyls, the high-performance wear layer on Matterhorn is incredibly resilient; however, a simple damp microfibre mop with a pH-neutral cleaner is all you need to keep those grey joints looking pristine.
3. Will the "Matterhorn" grey tones look "blue" or "cold" under typical Irish overcast skies? Grey flooring can sometimes shift in colour depending on the light source. Matterhorn is a neutral-to-warm grey, specifically designed to avoid the "icy blue" undertones often found in cheaper slate-effect laminates. Under the soft, diffused light common in Ireland, it retains a stony, organic appearance. To ensure it feels cosy during the winter, we recommend pairing it with "warm-white" LED lighting, which highlights the subtle, earthy textures of the Embossed in Register (EIR) finish.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
