Embrace Rustic Elegance with Coretec Herringbone Lumber: The Heart of Your Home

If you are looking to infuse your space with the raw, authentic beauty of a traditional workshop floor but require the resilience of modern technology, Coretec Herringbone Lumber is the perfect solution. Part of the world-renowned Naturals Series, this 8mm thick flooring captures the “reclaimed” essence of natural oak with breathtaking precision. It is a floor designed for those who appreciate character, warmth, and the timeless geometric charm of a herringbone layout.

Why Coretec Lumber is the Specialist’s Choice for SPC Flooring in Ireland

In an Irish climate, where damp mornings and muddy boots are part of daily life, your flooring needs to be more than just a pretty surface. Coretec Herringbone Lumber is a 100% waterproof floor, making it the ultimate LVT flooring for kitchens, bathrooms, and even basements. Unlike real timber, which can warp or “cup” when exposed to moisture, this high-performance SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floor remains perfectly stable.

The 8mm profile features a multi-layer construction with a rigid core that hides subfloor imperfections and provides a solid, “real-wood” feel underfoot. Boasting a 0.5mm wear layer, Lumber is “life-proof.” It is engineered to resist the scratches, dents, and stains that come with a bustling household, making it a fantastic investment for anyone seeking Coretec flooring in Ireland.

The Aesthetic Appeal of “Character” Oak Herringbone

The “Lumber” colourway stands out for its rich, “honey-ash” tones and prominent grain details. Unlike “flatter” oak visuals, Lumber celebrates the knots and swirls of a living tree, providing a textured look that feels grounded and organic. When laid in a herringbone pattern, these varied tones create a dynamic, high-end finish that complements both rustic farmhouse kitchens and sleek, contemporary extensions. The 8mm thickness ensures excellent acoustic performance, dampening the sound of footfall across your home.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "Lumber" visual look too rustic for a modern Irish apartment? Not at all. While "Lumber" captures a natural, reclaimed oak character, the precision of the herringbone layout keeps the overall look incredibly sophisticated. It provides a beautiful "organic" counterpoint to modern handleless kitchens and neutral furniture, adding soul to new-build spaces.

2. Can Coretec Herringbone Lumber be installed over old floorboards? Yes, provided the floorboards are sturdy and flat. The rigid SPC core and 8mm thickness of Lumber are designed to bridge minor gaps and variations in the subfloor. For the best results in older Irish homes, we usually recommend a thin ply overboarding to ensure a perfectly level canvas for the herringbone pattern.

3. Is the "Lumber" colourway difficult to match with skirting boards? Lumber is one of the most versatile shades in the Naturals Series. Because it contains a mix of warm honey and cooler ash tones, it pairs beautifully with traditional white-primed skirting, natural oak trims, or even bold "Down Pipe" grey painted woodwork.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
