Bring Golden Warmth Home with Coretec Herringbone Barley

If you are searching for a floor that captures the soul of a sun-drenched Irish meadow, Coretec Herringbone Barley is the ultimate choice. As a standout gem in the Coretec Naturals Series, this 8mm thick flooring solution masterfully combines the timeless “parquetry” charm with 21st-century resilience. Barley isn’t just a floor; it is a design statement that brings a warm, natural oak glow to your home, ensuring your interior feels welcoming even on the greyest of Atlantic afternoons.

The Superior Engineering of Coretec SPC Floors

In Ireland, our homes face unique challenges—from damp coastal air to the high-traffic demands of a busy family life. Coretec Herringbone Barley is a 100% waterproof floor, making it the perfect candidate for every room in the house, including “wet zones” like kitchens and bathrooms. Unlike traditional timber, this SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) floorwill not warp, swell, or peel when exposed to moisture.

With a robust 8mm profile, Barley features the world-renowned rigid core technology that has made Coretec flooring a household name. It boasts a 0.5mm wear layer, meaning it is “life-proof.” Whether you have heavy furniture, high-heeled guests, or energetic pets, this floor is built to resist scratches and indentations while maintaining its stunning matte finish.

Why Choose the Natural Oak Aesthetic?

The “Barley” colourway offers a beautifully balanced palette of honeyed gold and toasted wheat. By utilising the herringbone pattern, you add an architectural layer of luxury to your space. This traditional layout, paired with such a fresh, natural oak tone, works harmoniously with both period properties and modern new-builds. It provides the perfect “organic” foundation for contemporary Irish furniture, reflecting natural light to make your living spaces feel larger and more vibrant.

Ask a Question

1. Does "Barley" have a repetitive pattern that looks "fake" across a large floor? Not at all. Coretec uses high-definition digital imaging to ensure that the natural oak grain in Barley looks incredibly authentic. When installed in a herringbone pattern, the "directional" changes of the planks further break up the visual, ensuring a bespoke, high-end look that is virtually indistinguishable from real wood.

2. How does the 8mm thickness of "Barley" compare to thinner vinyl planks? The 8mm thickness is a significant advantage. It provides a more "solid" acoustic feel underfoot, reducing that "hollow" sound often found in thinner 4mm or 5mm floors. It also allows for a much stronger click-locking system, which is essential for maintaining the tight joints required for a crisp herringbone layout.

3. Is Coretec Herringbone Barley easy to clean after a typical Irish "muddy" walk? Yes, it is remarkably low-maintenance. Because the surface is non-porous and waterproof, mud and grit cannot "stain" the grain. A simple sweep followed by a wipe with a damp microfibre mop will restore the floor to its original beauty. Unlike real oak, it never requires sanding, oiling, or waxing.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
