ABOUT CORETEC:
All Coretec Floors are 100% waterproof, kid proof and pet proof. Suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms, they won’t warp or buckle even if fully submerged in water. 1. Does the dark "Slate" finish of Katla 0493b show water spots or hard water minerals in a bathroom? Because Katla 0493b features a matte, micro-textured surface, it is much more effective at hiding dried water spots than a polished dark marble or ceramic tile. However, in areas with very hard water, white mineral deposits can occasionally become visible against the dark charcoal background. To prevent this "clouding," it is recommended to use a pH-neutral cleaner that doesn't leave a film, which keeps the deep "volcanic" tones looking sharp and saturated.
2. How does the "B" variation of Katla 0493b differ from the more dramatic "C" version in terms of layout? The 0493b variant is designed for those who want the look of natural slate but with a more consistent tonal range. While the "C" version has heavy "cleft" visuals and high-contrast light-to-dark shifts, Katla 0493b provides a smoother, more "honed" appearance. This makes the layout process easier, as you won't have to spend as much time "dry-laying" the floor to avoid placing two high-contrast planks next to each other.
3. Will the dark pigment of Katla 0493b absorb heat if installed over a sun-drenched mudroom floor? While dark surfaces naturally absorb more thermal energy than light ones, Katla 0493b is built on a Ceramic Composite Core. This mineral-based core acts as a thermal heat sink, distributing the warmth evenly across the floor rather than letting the surface become uncomfortably hot to the touch. It is also UV-stable, meaning the rich, dark charcoal won't "bake" or fade into a duller grey even with years of direct afternoon sun.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
