All Coretec Floors are 100% waterproof, kid proof and pet proof. Suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms, they won’t warp or buckle even if fully submerged in water. CORK UNDERLAY:
Cork is a natural product that is one of the most sustainable materials around. It is harvested from the cork tree and can be re-harvested every decade without any damage to the tree. 1. Does the lighter "Silver-Ash" tone of Katla 0471c make the integrated grout lines stand out more? On Katla 0471c, the integrated grout lines are designed with a soft, medium-grey contrast. Because the tile itself has a "weathered stone" aesthetic with lighter highlights, the grout line actually looks more blended and natural than it does on the darker Katla models. This creates a more monolithic "continuous stone" look that is highly popular in modern, minimalist bathrooms where you want the floor to feel expansive rather than broken up by a harsh grid.
2. How does Katla 0471c handle the "chalky" appearance that sometimes plagues light-colored slate tiles? Real light-colored slate can often look "dusty" or chalky due to natural efflorescence. Katla 0471c avoids this entirely by using a high-definition stone film protected by a matte-finish UV-cured acrylic. You get the aesthetic of dry, natural ash-stone without the dusty residue or the need for a "wet-look" sealer. The surface remains crisp and saturated, showing the intricate mineral veining without looking faded or dried out.
3. Is the "C" variation of Katla 0471c too light for a mudroom where wet, muddy boots are common? Actually, the Katla 0471c is an excellent choice for "transitional" spaces like mudrooms. The "C" variation includes significant tonal shifting—blending greys, taupes, and silvers—which is much better at hiding dried mud and outdoor dust than a solid dark floor. Since it is 100% waterproof and has a slip-resistant texture, you can let wet boots sit on the surface without worrying about the mineral core warping or the "stone" visual staining.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
