ABOUT CORETEC:
All Coretec Floors are 100% waterproof, kid proof and pet proof. Suitable for use in kitchens and bathrooms, they won’t warp or buckle even if fully submerged in water. 1. Does the heavy "slate" texture of Katla 0493c make it uncomfortable for bare feet or socks? While Katla 0493c replicates the dramatic, multi-level "cleaving" found in natural slate, it is engineered with a soft-touch mineral core and a refined acrylic top coat. Unlike real slate, which can have sharp edges or "flaking" layers, the Katla surface is smoothed at a microscopic level. It provides a high-traction, tactile experience that feels secure underfoot without being abrasive or causing snagging on delicate socks.
2. How does the dark, "Volcanic" pigment of Katla 0493c handle high-alkaline cleaning spills like bleach or ammonia? Katla 0493c is chemically resistant to most common household spills, but high-alkaline cleaners (like undiluted bleach) should be avoided. On such a dark, rich surface, harsh chemicals can leave a "haze" or a "bloom" that dulls the deep charcoal depth. To maintain the "wet stone" look of Katla, it is best to use a neutral pH cleaner which preserves the integrity of the integrated grout lines and the UV-cured wear layer.
3. Will the dramatic shade variations in Katla 0493c make the floor look "busy" in a small kitchen? The Katla 0493c is designed with High Variation (V4), meaning there is a purposeful contrast between the deepest blacks and lighter charcoal veining. In a small space, this actually works to your advantage by creating a sense of natural "movement." The variation mimics a hand-laid stone floor, which draws the eye across the room and prevents the floor from looking like a flat, artificial black sheet, ultimately adding more architectural "weight" to the room.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Coretec Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
