Product Description

Elegant, timeless, and full of natural charm, Castro Imperial Oak 180 captures everything that makes oak flooring one of the most sought-after choices in Irish homes. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading retailer for engineered floors and hardwood flooring, this beautiful 15mm engineered oak floor delivers a perfect balance of classic design, durability, and comfort. With its extra-wide 180mm planks, brushed texture, and soft matt lacquer finish, it brings warmth and sophistication to every room.

Crafted from premium European oak, Castro Imperial Oak 180 is designed to showcase the natural beauty of real wood. The brushed finish enhances the intricate grain patterns, adding a subtle texture that feels rich and organic underfoot. This delicate brushing process removes the softer fibres of the oak, leaving behind a surface that celebrates every knot, line, and detail of the timber. It’s this craftsmanship that gives the floor its authentic, hand-finished look — elegant yet inviting.

The matt lacquer finish protects the surface while maintaining the natural appearance of the oak. Unlike glossier finishes, the matt sheen gives the floor a contemporary, understated style that suits modern interiors beautifully. It also offers superior durability, helping to guard against scratches, stains, and everyday wear while keeping maintenance simple. The result is a floor that stays looking fresh, clean, and effortlessly stylish for years.

The rustic grading of Castro Imperial Oak 180 highlights the genuine character of natural wood. You’ll find knots, grain variations, and touches of sapwood, each adding charm and individuality. These features tell the story of the tree, making every board unique. Whether you’re designing a cosy country kitchen, a modern open-plan living area, or a sophisticated office space, this rustic oak floor creates a feeling of warmth and timeless quality that never goes out of style.

At 15mm thick and 180mm wide, this engineered floor combines strength with stunning aesthetics. Its multi-layer construction offers superior stability compared to solid wood, making it ideal for Ireland’s changing climate. It’s even compatible with underfloor heating, giving you warmth and comfort throughout the seasons. Installation is flexible too — it can be glued directly to the subfloor for a traditional, seamless fit or floated using its tongue & groove system for a quick and efficient installation.

For over two decades, FloorStore Direct has been helping Irish homeowners, architects, and designers choose the finest engineered and hardwood flooring. With expert advice, personal consultations with Siobhan, and showrooms in both Galway and Tullamore, we pride ourselves on offering unbeatable choice and professional service.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Castro Range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
