Product Description
Rich, inviting, and full of character, Castro Hagia Sophia Oak 180 captures the timeless beauty of oak in a way that feels both classic and contemporary. Available exclusively from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered floors and hardwood flooring, this elegant 15mm engineered oak floor brings natural warmth, depth, and sophistication into your home. With its rich brown stain, brushed surface, and soft matt lacquer finish, it creates a perfect foundation for any interior — from traditional country charm to modern minimalist design.
Crafted from high-quality European oak, Castro Hagia Sophia Oak 180 is built to impress. Each plank is 15mm thick and 180mm wide, offering both visual impact and long-lasting stability. The brown colour stain enhances the natural oak tones, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you’re designing a cosy living space, a rustic kitchen, or a stylish office, this versatile floor complements a wide range of furnishings and colour schemes with ease.
The beauty of this floor lies in its detail. The brushed finish brings the wood’s natural grain to life by gently removing the softer fibres from the surface. This technique gives the oak a refined texture that feels authentic and organic underfoot while adding visual depth to each plank. The brushing also highlights the natural grain pattern, making every board slightly different — a mark of true craftsmanship and quality.
To protect and enhance the wood, the floor is finished with a matt lacquer. This finish preserves the oak’s natural appearance while providing excellent resistance to daily wear and tear. Unlike glossy finishes, a matt lacquer has a subtle, contemporary sheen that works beautifully in modern homes. It also makes the floor easy to clean and maintain, ensuring that Castro Hagia Sophia Oak 180 remains as beautiful as the day it’s installed.
With its rustic grading, this floor embraces the natural charm and authenticity of real wood. You’ll find knots, tonal variations, and touches of sapwood throughout — features that tell the story of the oak and add character to every room. This rustic texture gives your space warmth and personality, making it feel both lived-in and luxurious.
Engineered with a multi-layered construction, Castro Hagia Sophia Oak offers superior stability, making it ideal for Ireland’s changing climate. It’s also compatible with underfloor heating, ensuring comfort all year round. For installation, you can glue it directly to the subfloor for a secure, solid fit, or float it using its tongue & groove systemfor a faster and more flexible setup.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Castro Range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
