Product Description
Rich, warm, and full of depth, Castro Fumado Oak 180 brings timeless sophistication to any home or commercial space. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s leading destination for engineered floors and hardwood flooring, this stunning 15mm engineered oak floor combines old-world character with modern design and performance. The smoked oak tones, subtle brushing, and luxurious matt lacquer finish give this floor an elegant yet natural look that elevates every interior.
The secret to the beauty of Castro Fumado Oak 180 lies in its careful craftsmanship. Each board is made from premium European oak that undergoes a smoking process to deepen the colour of the timber. This process reacts with the natural tannins in the wood, creating a range of rich brown tones that flow beautifully from plank to plank. The result is a unique, multi-tonal floor full of warmth and natural variation — no two boards are ever exactly alike.
Once smoked, the surface is brushed to highlight the oak’s organic grain patterns and tactile texture. The brushing gently removes the softer fibres of the wood, leaving behind a beautifully defined surface that feels authentic underfoot. It enhances the natural character of the oak, allowing the grain to take centre stage while adding strength and durability.
The floor is then finished with a matt lacquer, creating a protective layer that enhances the smoked oak’s natural tones while maintaining a soft, non-reflective sheen. This finish not only adds a contemporary feel but also protects against everyday wear, making it ideal for busy homes, offices, and retail spaces. The Castro Fumado Oak 180 floor is designed to age gracefully, developing even more character over time while retaining its elegance and durability.
With a rustic grading, this engineered oak celebrates the beauty of imperfection. Expect charming knots, natural colour variations, and touches of sapwood, all of which bring warmth and authenticity to your interior. This rustic character works perfectly in both modern and traditional settings, creating a welcoming, lived-in feel that never goes out of style.
The 15mm thick, 180mm wide boards provide strength and stability while showcasing the wood’s expansive grain pattern. Thanks to its multi-layer engineered construction, Castro Fumado Oak resists warping and movement, making it perfectly suited to Ireland’s variable climate. It’s also compatible with underfloor heating for year-round comfort. Installation is flexible — it can be glued directly to the subfloor for a seamless, solid feel or floated using its tongue & groove system for a quick, efficient fit.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Castro Range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
