Discover the Serenity of Cascada Wintry Forest Oak
Imagine the quiet, crisp atmosphere of a frost-covered woodland—that is the exact aesthetic captured by the Quick-Step Cascada Wintry Forest Oak (CASC5672). This floor is a masterclass in modern Nordic design, offering a pale, light-stained palette that breathes life and air into any room. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring because we understand that Irish homes thrive when they embrace light, especially during our shorter winter days.
The Wintry Forest Oak features a marquant grading, which is perfect for homeowners who want their floor to look like a living piece of history. Rather than a repetitive, artificial pattern, this floor celebrates the organic soul of the tree. You will find beautiful knots, natural colour variations, and streaks of sapwood that ensure no two planks are exactly alike. It is the ultimate choice for those who want the prestige of real timber with a fresh, contemporary edge.
Leading Innovation in Water-Resistant Wood
For years, the Achilles’ heel of real wood floors was moisture. The Cascada collection has rewritten the rules. This 13mm thick engineered floor from Quick-Step is a technological powerhouse, designed to withstand the spills and humidity of a busy modern household.
- Revolutionary “Wood for Life” Technology: This floor is truly water-resistant. The unique coating prevents moisture from soaking into the grain or the joints, making it the first luxury choice for those who want real engineered wood floors in their kitchens, utility rooms, or even bathrooms.
- Superior Surface Treatment: Each plank is brushed to highlight the natural texture of the oak and finished with an extra matt lacquer. This provides a non-reflective, tactile surface that feels like raw wood but offers the protection of seven layers of high-performance shield.
- Flexible Installation: Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or a professional installer, the Cascada range offers versatility. It can be glued down for a rock-solid, permanent feel or floated over an underlay using the world-renowned Uniclic Multifit system.

Ask a Question
1. Is a light-coloured floor like "Wintry Forest" hard to clean? Surprisingly, no. The extra matt lacquer finish is specifically designed to repel dirt. Because the wood is brushed, it also hides dust and micro-scratches much better than dark, high-gloss surfaces.
2. Can I install this in my kitchen without worry? Yes! Thanks to the water-resistant surface and watertight click system, the Cascada range is perfectly suited for kitchens. Just follow the manufacturer's perimeter sealing guidelines for maximum protection.
3. Does 13mm thickness allow for future sanding? Absolutely. While the factory finish is incredibly durable, the genuine oak top layer on this 13mm board can be professionally sanded and refinished in the future, giving your floor a lifespan that can last generations.
Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
