Sophisticated Durability: Quick-Step Cascada Leather Oak
If you are searching for a floor that balances the rugged charm of natural timber with a sleek, modern edge, look no further than the Quick-Step Cascada Leather Oak (CASC6029). At Floorstore Direct, we have built our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring because we understand that Irish homes require surfaces that are as resilient as they are beautiful.
The Leather Oak decor offers a rich, balanced tone that acts as a perfect anchor for any interior style. It features a Nature grading, which is the ideal choice for those who appreciate authenticity without the heavy rustic intensity of large knots. You can expect subtle colour variations and small, delicate knots that highlight the organic origin of the European oak, providing a sophisticated, high-end feel that breathes life into both contemporary and traditional spaces.
The First Truly Watertight Wood Flooring
For decades, moisture was the primary enemy of real wood floors. The Cascada collection changes the narrative. This 13mm thick engineered floor from Quick-Step is a technological marvel, designed to thrive in the busiest—and dampest—areas of your home.
-
Revolutionary “Wood for Life” Technology: This isn’t just a surface treatment. It is a moisture-repellent coating that protects the grain and the joints, preventing mud, spills, and dirt from becoming ingrained in your floor.
-
HydroSeal Waterproofing: Combined with the watertight Uniclic Multifit system, Leather Oak is 100% resistant to surface moisture. This makes it one of the few premium engineered wood floors suitable for kitchens, utility rooms, and even bathrooms.
-
Brushed & Extra Matt Finish: The planks are carefully brushed to accentuate the wood’s natural texture and finished with seven layers of extra matt lacquer. The result is a non-reflective, tactile surface that feels like raw wood but offers a high-performance shield against daily wear and tear.

Ask a Question
1. Is "Leather Oak" a dark or light floor? Leather Oak sits comfortably in the medium-natural category. It provides enough depth to anchor a room without making it feel smaller, while the extra matt finish ensures it doesn't create distracting glares in brightly lit spaces.
2. Can I really use this in my bathroom? Yes! Thanks to the watertight click system and HydroSeal coating, the Cascada range is designed for wet areas. When installed with the recommended Quick-Step installation kit and sealants, it offers a level of water protection previously impossible for real wood.
3. Does 13mm thickness allow for future sanding? Absolutely. The genuine oak wear layer on this 13mm board can be professionally sanded and refinished in the future, giving your investment a lifespan that can last for generations.
Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
