Product Description

Timeless Character with Cascada Brown Vintage Oak

There is a specific kind of soul found in reclaimed timber that modern floors often struggle to replicate. The Quick-Step Cascada Brown Vintage Oak (CASC5676) changes that narrative entirely. Designed to evoke the heritage of aged European oak, this floor brings a sense of history and permanence to your home. At Floorstore Direct, we have become the go-to destination and the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring because we understand that Irish interiors deserve more than just a surface—they deserve a story.

The Brown Vintage Oak features a Marquant grading, which is the secret to its authentic, “lived-in” charm. This grading embraces the natural variation of the wood, highlighting lively colour shifts, pronounced knots, and visible sapwood. Each 1820mm long plank acts as a unique canvas of nature, creating a rustic yet refined foundation that perfectly complements both industrial-style Dublin lofts and traditional country cottages.

Watertight Innovation for the Modern Home

While the aesthetic is vintage, the engineering is purely futuristic. This 13mm thick board is part of the world’s first 100% water-resistant parquet collection from Quick-Step. In a climate like ours, the ability to have real wood in high-moisture areas is a total game-changer for Irish homeowners.

  • Wood for Life Technology: This advanced moisture-repellent coating protects the surface and the deep textures of the grain. It prevents mud, spilled food, and daily grit from getting stuck in the joints, ensuring your floor remains as pristine as the day it was installed.
  • HydroSeal Surface Protection: Combined with the watertight Uniclic Multifit system, Brown Vintage Oak is resistant to surface moisture for up to 72 hours. This makes it a stunning, high-performance solution for kitchens, utility rooms, and even bathrooms.
  • Stained, Brushed & Extra Matt Finish: The planks are meticulously brushed to accentuate the natural wood structure, then stained to a deep, vintage brown and finished with an extra matt lacquer. This provides a tactile, non-reflective surface that feels like raw, oiled timber but offers seven layers of professional protection.

Ask a Question

1. What exactly does "Marquant Grading" look like? Marquant is for those who love "real" wood. It includes more knots and colour variation than a "Prime" grade, giving the floor a rustic, authentic look that proves it is a genuine natural product rather than a printed imitation.

2. Is the "Extra Matt" lacquer hard to keep clean? Actually, it’s easier! The extra matt finish is specifically designed to hide micro-scratches and footprints much better than high-gloss floors. A simple sweep and a damp mop with a pH-neutral wood cleaner are all you need for maintenance.

3. Can I install this over my existing underfloor heating? Yes. This 13mm engineered board is highly stable and offers excellent thermal conductivity, making it an ideal partner for both traditional and modern underfloor heating systems.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
