1. Why should I choose "Large Parquet" over standard-sized herringbone? The larger plank format in the Westchester Oak range is designed for modern spaces. Standard herringbone can sometimes look "busy" in large open-plan areas; however, the larger planks create a cleaner, more expansive aesthetic that feels grand and sophisticated while still honouring the classic parquet tradition.
2. Is a light grey floor like Westchester Oak difficult to keep clean? Surprisingly, no. The light grey oak grain is exceptionally forgiving. It naturally masks light dust and pet hair much better than dark or solid-grey floors. Combined with the Polyurethane (PUR) surface treatment, a simple damp mop is all that is required to keep it looking pristine.
3. Why is subfloor moisture testing so critical for a glue-down floor? Because this LVT is adhered directly to the subfloor, any residual moisture in a concrete screed can trap vapour, preventing the glue from bonding and eventually causing the planks to lift. At Floorstore Direct, we always recommend a professional moisture test to ensure your investment remains perfectly flat for its entire lifespan.
Recommend Adhesive
Our Polyflor LVT Flooring must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Polyflor Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
