Product Description

Mediterranean Warmth: Transform Your Home with Camaro Ocean Slate

If you want to bring the sun-drenched atmosphere of the Mediterranean into your Irish home, Ocean Slate from the Polyflor Camaro collection is an inspired choice. This 2mm thick LVT masterfully blends a soft beige base with rich, earthy terracotta tones, replicating the natural beauty of weathered coastal stone. It provides a warm, organic foundation that breathes life into kitchens, conservatories, and sunrooms. Unlike real stone or terracotta tiles, which can be notoriously cold and prone to cracking, Ocean Slate offers a resilient, tactile surface that feels comfortable underfoot throughout the seasons.

Bespoke Design: The Beauty of Glue-Down LVT

As a premium glue-down floor, Ocean Slate offers a level of creative freedom that “click” floors simply cannot match. This is a true designer’s option; you have the choice to lay the tiles in a traditional grid for a seamless look or incorporate Polyflor feature strips and borders. By adding a contrasting grout-effect strip in a charcoal or cream tone, you can define each tile, creating a high-end, bespoke finish that looks exactly like professionally grouted masonry. At Floorstore Direct, we stock a full range of accessories to help you customise your installation to suit your unique vision.

Technical Excellence and Professional Performance

Ocean Slate is engineered for the demands of a busy household. Because it is a permanent glue-down LVT, it offers incredible stability and is a superior conductor for underfloor heating systems.

  • 100% Waterproof: This floor is entirely impervious to water, making it the ideal solution for bathrooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens.

  • Polyurethane (PUR) Coating: The surface is treated with a high-quality PUR reinforcement, making it exceptionally easy to clean and resistant to the daily scuffs of family life.

  • Permanent Stability: Once adhered, these tiles will not shift or “bounce,” providing a solid, quiet acoustic performance in any room.

Ask a Question

1. How do the terracotta tones in Ocean Slate look in natural light? Ocean Slate is designed to be multi-tonal. In bright, natural light, the warm terracotta hues pop against the beige base, creating a vibrant, rustic feel. In softer evening light, the floor takes on a more muted, sandy appearance, making it a highly versatile choice for rooms that see a lot of sun.

2. Why is subfloor moisture testing so important for this floor? Because Ocean Slate must be glued down, any moisture trapped in the concrete or timber subfloor can prevent the adhesive from bonding correctly, leading to tiles lifting over time. We always recommend that your subfloor is dry and level (using a smoothing compound if necessary) before the first tile is laid.

3. Is this floor suitable for high-traffic commercial areas? Yes. While it is a popular choice for Irish homes, the Polyflor Camaro range is also rated for light commercial use. Its durable wear layer and glue-down method make it perfect for small boutiques, salons, or cafes where a stylish yet hard-wearing floor is required.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Polyflor LVT Flooring must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Polyflor Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
