Product Description
Dramatic Sophistication: Elevate Your Space with Camaro Atlantic Slate
For those seeking to make a bold architectural statement, Atlantic Slate from the Polyflor Camaro collection is the ultimate design-led flooring choice. This 2mm thick LVT masterfully captures the deep, moody essence of natural dark stone, providing a striking black tile effect that anchors any interior with a sense of luxury and weight. Whether you are aiming for a minimalist urban kitchen, a moody boutique-style bathroom, or a high-traffic commercial space, Atlantic Slate offers the raw, textured beauty of real slate without the brittleness or coldness associated with natural stone.
A True Designer’s Canvas: Customise Your Installation
One of the most exciting aspects of the Polyflor Camaro range is its versatility as a design tool. Unlike rigid core alternatives, this glue-down LVT allows for complete creative freedom. You can choose to lay the tiles in a clean, seamless grid for a sleek look, or elevate the aesthetic using feature strips and borders. These strips can be placed between tiles to mimic traditional grout lines in silver, gold, or graphite, or used to create a bespoke perimeter border that frames your room. This level of customisation is why professional designers consider Atlantic Slate a top-tier choice for bespoke Irish homes.
Uncompromising Durability and Performance
Because Atlantic Slate is a glue-down floor, it offers superior permanent stability. Once professionally adhered to the subfloor, it becomes a solid, immovable part of your home’s structure, eliminating any risk of “bouncing” or shifting.
-
100% Waterproof: This floor is entirely impervious to moisture, making it the premier choice for splash zones in bathrooms and kitchens.
-
Hard-Wearing Finish: Protected by a high-quality polyurethane (PUR) reinforcement, it resists scratches and scuffs, ensuring the deep black tones remain vibrant for years.
-
Underfloor Heating Compatible: It is an excellent conductor of heat, making it perfect for use with underfloor heating systems up to 27°C.

Ask a Question
1. What preparation is required before installing Atlantic Slate? Since this is a 2.5mm glue-down LVT, your subfloor must be incredibly smooth, level, and dry. We highly recommend using a high-quality smoothing compound (screed) and ensuring a damp-proof membrane is in place if moisture levels are high. Any imperfections in the subfloor will "show through" the vinyl if not properly addressed.
2. How do I maintain the deep black finish of Atlantic Slate? Maintaining this floor is remarkably simple. Regular sweeping and a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner are all that is required. The PUR coating prevents dirt from becoming ingrained, so you won't need to use harsh chemicals or waxes to keep that luxurious slate effect looking brand new.
3. Can I install this floor myself, or do I need a professional? While many DIYers tackle click-system floors, a glue-down installation like Atlantic Slate requires a higher level of skill. Achieving perfectly straight lines and a professional bond with the adhesive takes experience. For the best results and to ensure your warranty remains valid, we recommend hiring a professional floor fitter.
Recommend Adhesive
Our Polyflor LVT Flooring must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Polyflor Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
