1. Does the light "Arctic Slate" finish show up dirt and pet hair easily? Actually, Arctic Slate is incredibly practical. The realistic stone texture and subtle grey marbling are fantastic at diffusing light, which helps to mask light dust, pet hair, and dried water spots far better than a solid white or very dark tile. It is a brilliant choice for high-traffic kitchens and hallways.
2. Why must the subfloor be moisture-free before installation? Because Arctic Slate is a glue-down product, any moisture trapped in the subfloor can interfere with the adhesive bond, potentially causing the tiles to lift or bubble over time. We always recommend a professional moisture test and the use of a damp-proof membrane if levels are high.
3. Can I install Arctic Slate in my shower area? While Arctic Slate is 100% waterproof and perfect for bathroom floors, it is not designed for use as a wet-room base or inside a shower cubicle. However, it is the ideal, slip-resistant choice for the rest of the bathroom, providing a safe and stylish surface that handles steam and splashes with ease.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Polyflor Flooring is pretty much the same as with all Vinyl Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Please make sure to also check the manufacturers guidelines.
