Product Description

Modern Masterpiece: Elevate Your Home with Grey Artisan Oak

If you are looking to create a space that feels cool, contemporary, and grounded in natural beauty, Art Select Grey Artisan Oak by Karndean is the ultimate architectural foundation. This premium 3mm thick LVT is a masterclass in design, capturing the icy blue-grey tones and strong crown formations of handcrafted oak. Featuring a unique liming treatment that highlights the varied grains and burnished knots, Grey Artisan Oak provides a dark neutral canvas with heaps of personality. At Floorstore Direct, we know that Irish homeowners are looking for a floor that balances style with substance, and this grey oak floor delivers exactly that.

The Art Select Advantage: Unrivalled Design Flexibility

The Art Select collection is widely considered the pinnacle of Karndean flooring, specifically engineered to replicate natural wood with staggering authenticity. Because Grey Artisan Oak is a permanent glue-down LVT, it offers a level of structural stability and creative freedom that standard “click” or Camaro systems simply cannot match. At Floorstore Direct, we specialise in helping our customers leverage these design options to create truly bespoke interiors:

  • Fit in Multiple Directions: Lay the planks in a traditional staggered bond, a striking diagonal orientation to lead the eye, or even a bespoke herringbone pattern.

  • Incorporate Borders and Feature Strips: Elevate the finish by adding a contrasting perimeter border or using Karndean design strips to create a “ship-deck” effect, highlighting the individual craftsmanship of each plank.

  • Seamless Customisation: Unlike rigid floors, these individual planks allow for a flush finish against hearths and skirting boards, providing a tailored, professional look.

Engineered for High-Performance Irish Living

Grey Artisan Oak isn’t just a visual masterpiece; it is a technical powerhouse built for the realities of modern life.

  • 100% Waterproof: Like all our premium Karndean products, this floor is entirely impervious to moisture, making it ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms.

  • Installation Excellence: To achieve a flawless finish, this floor must be glued down to a subfloor that is perfectly level, smooth, and entirely free from moisture.

  • Thermal Comfort: It is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems (up to 27°C), ensuring your home stays snug and warm during those damp Irish winters.

Ask a Question

1. Does the "grey" colour make the floor look cold? Not at all. While the tones are "icy," the realistic wood-grain texture and natural knots add a depth of character that feels warm and organic. It pairs beautifully with both cool minimalist decor and warmer wooden furniture to create a balanced, modern look.

2. Why is the 0.7mm wear layer important for this floor? The Art Select range features a heavy-duty 0.7mm wear layer on a 3mm thickness. This is significantly thicker than many standard LVT products, providing superior protection against scuffs, stains, and indentations—making it the ideal choice for high-traffic hallways and busy family kitchens.

3. Why must this floor be glued down rather than installed as a "click" floor? A glue-down installation creates a permanent bond with the subfloor. This eliminates the "hollow" sound sometimes associated with floating floors, provides better thermal conductivity for underfloor heating, and allows for much more intricate design layouts using borders and strips.

Recommend Adhesive

LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Karndean Design Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
