Industrial Chic: Elevate Your Home with Art Select Corris

If you are looking to capture the moody, architectural beauty of traditional Welsh slate without the coldness or maintenance of real stone, Art Select Corris by Karndean is the ultimate choice. This premium 3mm thick LVT is a masterclass in realistic design, replicating the deep, multi-tonal hues and intricate “riven” surface of genuine slate with a stunning mid-dark grey colour tile effect. Perfect for creating a grounded, contemporary aesthetic, Corris provides a sophisticated backdrop that complements everything from sleek modern kitchens to rustic living spaces. At Floorstore Direct, we pride ourselves on being Ireland’s premier destination for high-performance flooring that refuses to compromise on style.

The Art Select Advantage: Bespoke Design Freedom

The Art Select collection is widely regarded as the pinnacle of Karndean flooring, specifically engineered to replicate natural materials with breathtaking accuracy. Because Corris is a permanent glue-down LVT, it offers a level of structural stability and creative versatility that standard “click” or Camaro systems simply cannot match. At Floorstore Direct, we empower you to customise your space with several unique design options:

  • Custom Inlays: You can choose to install these tiles with Karndean feature strips to create a realistic “grout line” in silver or charcoal, or lay them edge-to-edge for a seamless, monolithic stone look.

  • Fit in Multiple Directions: These tiles can be fitted in a variety of layouts—from a formal grid to a dynamic diagonal orientation—allowing you to manipulate the sense of scale in your room.

  • Professional Borders: Define your kitchen island or entrance hallway with decorative borders that add a tailored, handcrafted finish to your installation.

Engineered for High-Performance Irish Living

Corris isn’t just a visual triumph; it is a technical powerhouse built for the realities of modern life.

  • 100% Waterproof: Like all our premium Karndean products, this floor is entirely impervious to moisture, making it ideal for bathrooms, kitchens, and busy utility rooms.

  • Installation Excellence: For a lifelong result, this floor must be glued down to a subfloor that is perfectly level, smooth, and entirely free from moisture. Proper preparation ensures a quiet, solid feel underfoot.

  • Thermal Comfort: It is fully compatible with underfloor heating systems, ensuring your home stays snug and warm during those damp Irish winters.

Ask a Question

1. Why is the "riven" texture of Corris better than real slate? Real slate is porous, cold, and can be prone to "spalling" or flaking. Corris captures the rugged, riven look of real slate but uses Karndean’s K-Guard+ technology to ensure the surface is non-porous and easy to clean. You get the aesthetic of stone with a surface that is soft and warm to the touch.

2. Why is the 0.7mm wear layer important for this floor? The Art Select range features a heavy-duty 0.7mm wear layer on a 3mm thickness. This is the highest specification Karndean offers, providing superior protection against scuffs, stains, and indentations—making it the ideal choice for high-traffic areas like hallways and busy family kitchens.

3. Why must this floor be glued down rather than installed as a click system? A glue-down installation creates a permanent bond with the subfloor. This eliminates the "hollow" sound sometimes associated with floating floors, provides better heat transfer for underfloor heating, and allows for bespoke design layouts using strips and borders that are impossible with click systems.

Recommend Adhesive

LVT can shrink, expand, or lift under pressure if not properly bonded. Uzin KE66 is the adhesive we recommend as it is a fibre reinforced adhesive, which means it holds the tile firmly in place, preventing movement even in high-traffic areas or when exposed to temperature fluctuations. Please note all subfloors must be 100% clean, dry and level before LVT installation. Check out our adhesives, levelling compounds and primers here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Karndean Design Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet. You can view all our Cleaning & Maintenance products here.
