Amber Skye Vintage Fourteen Rural Oak is a stunning, rustic looking oak engineered floor. Its lightly smoked boards and matt finished surface is perfectly complimented by the saw cut style. Because of its modern feel and traditional finish, it is a floor that will suit any home. While an engineered floor has a solid layer of timber on top, it is pressed on a plywood base, so this combination gives you the warmth and texture of a real wood floor with much more stability. As with all engineered floors, Amber Skye Vintage Fourteen Rural Oak is suitable for underfloor heating.

Product Description

Bring rustic charm and timeless sophistication into your home with Vintage Fourteen Rural Oak, a floor that embodies the perfect blend of heritage and modern craftsmanship. Available from FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s trusted name for engineered floors, herringbone floors, and hardwood flooring, this 14mm oak floor delivers the authentic look of reclaimed timber with the performance of precision-engineered design.

Each plank of Vintage Fourteen Rural Oak is crafted from premium European oak and finished using a meticulous smoking process, which enriches the wood’s tone and highlights its natural depth. The smoking darkens the oak’s core and enhances its grain, resulting in a floor full of character, contrast, and warmth. Whether paired with rustic décor or sleek modern interiors, this rich, earthy tone sets the stage for a space that feels both inviting and effortlessly stylish.

The surface is brushed to accentuate the natural grain and texture of the wood, giving it that distinct hand-finished feel. This process gently removes the softer fibres, exposing the wood’s unique pattern and creating a tactile, lived-in aesthetic. The brushing also adds durability by hardening the surface, making it ideal for high-traffic areas like living rooms, kitchens, and hallways.

To protect and enhance the wood’s natural beauty, the floor is finished with a UV-cured oil. This advanced treatment combines the organic charm of traditional oil with the durability of a modern protective coating. It creates a subtle sheen that preserves the natural look of oak while resisting daily wear, moisture, and stains. The result is a floor that’s low maintenance, easy to clean, and designed to last for generations.

The vintage grading of this floor celebrates the authentic charm of real wood. Expect visible knots, natural cracks, sapwood, and rich colour variations that tell a story of craftsmanship and nature’s artistry. Every board has its own unique markings, giving your home a floor with personality, depth, and warmth — a feature that no imitation can match.

Built with a robust 14mm engineered construction, Vintage Fourteen Rural Oak offers the stability and versatility that Ireland’s climate demands. Its multi-layer design prevents warping or shifting, making it suitable for use with underfloor heating. This floor can be glued directly to the subfloor for a solid, traditional feel, or floated using its tongue & groove system for an easier installation — perfect for both professionals and DIY renovators.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Vintage Fourteen range is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
