Product Description
Bring timeless beauty and enduring craftsmanship into your home with the Rustic Grade Solid Herringbone from Amber Sky Flooring, available exclusively at FloorStore Direct, Ireland’s trusted specialist for solid floors, herringbone flooring, and hardwood floors. Crafted from 100% solid oak, this 16mm thick solid herringbone floor delivers the perfect balance of rustic charm and refined sophistication — an ideal choice for those seeking a truly authentic wooden floor that will last for generations.
This unfinished solid oak herringbone floor gives you full creative control over the final appearance. Because it must be finished on site with an oil or lacquer, you can tailor the sheen, tone, and protection level to perfectly complement your interior design. Whether you desire the natural warmth of an oiled finish or the added durability of a lacquer, this flexibility allows you to achieve a unique, personalised floor that enhances your home’s character.
The 16mm thickness ensures strength and stability, making it suitable for both residential and commercial spaces. Designed to be glued directly to the subfloor, this installation method provides a solid, secure base and a luxurious underfoot feel. The solid oak construction ensures long-lasting performance, making it an excellent investment for busy households, period homes, and modern spaces alike.
As a rustic grade floor, this herringbone celebrates the natural beauty and variation of real wood. Expect some knots, colour variation, and sapwood — authentic details that highlight the oak’s natural origins. This organic diversity creates a warm, welcoming aesthetic that cannot be replicated by synthetic materials. Every plank has its own unique grain pattern, ensuring no two pieces are ever identical.
The herringbone pattern itself adds timeless elegance to any room. Its geometric layout brings movement and texture to your floors, giving both traditional and contemporary interiors a distinctive sense of craftsmanship and style. Whether used throughout an open-plan space or as a feature floor in a hallway or sitting room, this design creates a visually striking focal point that never goes out of fashion.

Recommend Adhesive
Our Solid Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. This is an unfinished floor so it must be finished on site with an oil or a lacquer. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions. All Solid Flooring must be left in the room for at least 2-3 weeks prior to installation to be allowed to acclimatise.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Solid Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
