Product Description

Refined, elegant, and enduring — the Prime Grade Solid Herringbone from Amber Sky Flooring, available exclusively at FloorStore Direct, is the ultimate expression of luxury in solid floors, herringbone flooring, and hardwood floors. Expertly crafted from premium European oak, this 22mm thick solid herringbone floor brings a timeless aesthetic and uncompromising quality to any Irish home or commercial interior.

Unlike prefinished options, this unfinished solid oak herringbone floor allows you to completely customise the finish to suit your personal style. It must be finished on site with an oil or lacquer, giving you full control over the final appearance — from a natural matte tone to a rich, satin sheen. This flexibility ensures your new floor perfectly complements your décor while enhancing the warmth and texture of real oak.

At 22mm thick, this floor exudes strength, stability, and durability. It’s built to last a lifetime, offering the reassurance that comes only from true solid wood construction. Designed to be glued directly to the floor, it provides a robust, seamless surface underfoot and is ideal for both modern and traditional homes. The natural density of solid oak also makes it an excellent insulator, helping to retain heat and reduce noise, making your space both comfortable and inviting.

With a prime grade classification, this herringbone floor represents the finest quality oak available. Each piece is carefully selected for its clean, consistent grain and uniform colour, with little to no knots, sapwood, or variation. The result is a sleek, elegant appearance that embodies sophistication and craftsmanship at every glance. This makes it the perfect choice for contemporary interiors, minimalist spaces, and high-end renovations where refinement and precision are key.

The herringbone pattern adds a touch of heritage and design flair that instantly elevates any room. Its intricate geometric layout reflects light beautifully, creating a sense of movement and depth. From grand entrance halls to cosy sitting rooms, this classic pattern has stood the test of time — admired for its architectural symmetry and versatility.

Recommend Adhesive

Our Solid Herringbone must be directly glued to the subfloor. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. This is an unfinished floor so it must be finished on site with an oil or a lacquer. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions. All Solid Flooring must be left in the room for at least 2-3 weeks prior to installation to be allowed to acclimatise.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Solid Herringbone is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
