Product Description
Nordic Sophistication: Amato Wintry Forest Oak
Imagine the serene, crisp atmosphere of a frost-dusted woodland—that is the exact aesthetic captured by the Quick-Step Amato Wintry Forest Oak (AMT3854). This floor is a masterclass in modern Scandinavian design, offering a pale, light-stained palette that breathes life and air into any interior. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring because we understand that Irish homes thrive when they embrace light, especially during our long winter months.
The Amato collection is uniquely defined by its narrow 145mm plank width. While wide planks are common, these sleek, slender boards create a sense of length and architectural rhythm, making them the perfect choice for hallways, bedrooms, or compact living areas where you want to maximize the sense of space. Featuring a Marquant grading, this floor celebrates the organic soul of the tree; you will find beautiful knots, natural colour variations, and streaks of sapwood that ensure your home feels connected to the natural world.
Leading Innovation in Water-Resistant Wood
For decades, moisture was the primary concern for those installing real timber. However, this 13mm thick engineered floor from Quick-Step has rewritten the rules. As a premium choice within the Quick-Step flooring range, the Amato series is built to withstand the realities of a busy Irish household.
-
Pioneering “Wood for Life” Technology: This isn’t just a surface coating; it is a total moisture-repellent shield. It prevents water from soaking into the grain or the joints, making Wintry Forest Oak one of the few luxury engineered wood floors suitable for kitchens and utility areas.
-
Brushed & Extra Matt Finish: Each plank is meticulously brushed to highlight the natural texture of the oak and finished with an extra matt lacquer. This provides a non-reflective, tactile surface that feels like raw wood but offers the protection of seven layers of high-performance shield.
-
Installation Versatility: Whether you are a DIY enthusiast or a professional, this floor offers flexibility. It can be glued down for a rock-solid feel or floated over an underlay using the world-renowned Uniclic Multifit system.

Ask a Question
1. Does the narrow 145mm plank look better in small rooms? Yes! Narrow planks create more visual lines, which trick the eye into seeing more length and depth. This makes them a "secret weapon" for designers working with narrow corridors or smaller bedrooms.
2. Can I really install this in my kitchen without worry? Absolutely. Thanks to the watertight click system and "Wood for Life" coating, the Amato range is designed for moisture-prone areas. Just follow the recommended perimeter sealing guidelines for total peace of mind.
3. Is the "Marquant" grade too rustic for a modern home? Not at all. The light "Wintry Forest" stain softens the appearance of the knots and sapwood, providing a balanced look that is contemporary and high-end, rather than overly rustic.
Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
