Product Description

Indulge in the Luxury of Amato Leather Oak

When it comes to creating a home that feels both grounded and sophisticated, the floor you choose is the most important design decision you will make. The Quick-Step Amato Leather Oak (AMT6029) is a masterpiece of texture and tone, offering a deep, rich aesthetic that mimics the warmth of high-end leather. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our reputation as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring by providing a curated selection of products that marry Belgian innovation with the timeless beauty of real wood.

What sets the Amato collection apart is its elegant narrow 145mm plank width. While wider boards often lean toward a rustic farmhouse look, these slender, 1820mm long planks provide a refined, architectural rhythm. This narrow profile is a designer’s secret for making smaller rooms appear longer and more spacious. Featuring a nature grading, Leather Oak showcases the authentic “signature” of the tree—expect subtle colour variations and small, delicate knots that prove its organic origin without overwhelming your interior décor.

Revolutionary Water Resistance for Modern Irish Homes

In a climate like ours, moisture is always a concern for timber floors. However, this 13mm thick board from Quick-Step is part of a revolutionary generation of watertight parquet. As a leading supplier of Quick-Step flooring, we recommend the Amato range for its ability to handle the “wet” zones of the home that were previously off-limits for real wood.

  • Wood for Life Technology: This advanced moisture-repellent coating protects the surface and the deep textures of the grain. It prevents dirt, mud, and spills from soaking into the wood, ensuring your floor remains as pristine as the day it was installed.
  • 72-Hour Standing Water Limit: Thanks to the HydroSeal technology and the watertight Uniclic Multifit system, Leather Oak is 100% resistant to surface moisture for up to 72 hours. This makes it an ideal luxury solution for kitchens, utility rooms, and even bathrooms.
  • Brushed & Extra Matt Finish: Each plank is meticulously brushed to highlight the natural texture of the oak and finished with an extra matt lacquer. This provides a non-reflective, tactile surface that feels like raw wood but offers the protection of seven high-performance layers.

Ask a Question

1. Does a narrow 145mm plank work in larger open-plan spaces? Absolutely. While narrow planks are excellent for small rooms, in larger spaces they create a high-end, bespoke look reminiscent of classic European manor houses.

2. Can I really install this in my kitchen without worry? Yes! The Amato range is specifically designed for moisture-prone areas. Just follow the recommended perimeter sealing guidelines using Quick-Step’s foam strips and Hydrokit for a 100% watertight result.

3. Does 13mm thickness allow for future sanding? Yes. The 2.5mm genuine oak wear layer on this board can be professionally sanded and refinished in the future, giving your floor a lifespan that can last for generations.

Recommend Underlay/Adhesive

Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.

If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.

Fitting Guidelines

In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.

Cleaning & Maintenance Guide

The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop.  If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
