Product Description
Dramatic Depth with Amato Dark Chestnut Oak
If you’re looking to anchor your interior design with a sense of history and bold sophistication, the Quick-Step Amato Dark Chestnut Oak (AMT7446) is a stunning choice. At Floorstore Direct, we have earned our place as the best place in Ireland to buy engineered flooring because we select products that provide more than just a surface—they offer an atmosphere. This floor features deep, espresso-like tones and chestnut warmth, making it the ultimate foundation for a cozy living room, a professional home office, or a grand hallway.
The Amato collection is uniquely defined by its narrow 145mm plank width. These slender 1820mm long boards provide a refined, architectural rhythm that elongates your space. This floor features a vibrant grading, which is a celebration of the oak tree’s natural life. Unlike more uniform options, a vibrant grade is full of character, featuring prominent knots, lively colour variations, and striking sapwood. It is the perfect choice for those who want their home to feel authentic, grounded, and unapologetically natural.
The World’s First Watertight Parquet Innovation
Gone are the days when you had to sacrifice real wood for practicality. This 13mm thick board is part of the revolutionary Amato series, the world’s first 100% water-resistant timber collection from Quick-Step.
- Wood for Life Technology: This unique moisture-repellent coating prevents water, mud, and dust from penetrating the grain. It ensures the pores of the timber remain clean and protected, preserving the floor’s beauty even in high-traffic Irish households.
- 72-Hour Standing Water Limit: Thanks to the HydroSeal coating on all four sides and the watertight Uniclic Multifit system, this floor can handle standing water for up to 72 hours. This makes it a luxury solution for kitchens and even bathrooms.
- Brushed & Extra Matt Finish: Each plank is meticulously brushed to accentuate its natural texture and finished with a high-performance extra matt lacquer. The result is a tactile surface that feels like raw wood but offers a durable, anti-scratch shield.

Ask a Question
1. Does a dark floor like "Dark Chestnut" make a room look smaller? Because these are narrow 145mm planks, they create more visual lines that actually help to elongate the room. When paired with light walls or clever lighting, this dark floor creates a sophisticated "anchor" without overwhelming the space.
2. Is a "Vibrant" grade harder to maintain? Not at all. In fact, vibrant grading is excellent at hiding the minor scuffs and dust of daily life because the natural knots and colour variations provide a built-in camouflage that cleaner grades lack.
3. Can I install this in a bathroom? Yes! The Amato range is specifically designed for wet areas. When installed with the recommended Quick-Step installation kit and sealants, it offers a level of water protection that was previously impossible for real wood.
Recommend Underlay/Adhesive
Our Engineered Flooring can be fitted either over an underlay as part of a floating system or can be directly glued to the subfloor. Our advice would always be for you to glue your floor down if possible. This will provide a more solid and stable structure that will increase noise reduction, feel better underfoot and will not expand as much. In the long term it will also provide structural stability during any floor sanding. If you have underfloor heating a glued down floor eliminates air pockets and will then allow your heating to work more economically. You can view all our adhesives here.
If you choose to float your floor the underlay you choose can be just as important as the floor itself as this is what will determine the feel and noise level under your foot. Furthermore if you have underfloor heating, the underlay you choose will determine the level of heat conductivity with some underlays allowing for a quicker heat transfer than others. Because of this, getting the right underlay is hugely important. You can view our entire underlay collection here.
Fitting Guidelines
In order for your new floor to perform to the best of its ability we advise using a skilled, professional fitter for the installation of your new floor. Prior to installation your floor must be checked to ensure it is level and free from moisture. Should there be any issues with this our levelling compounds and damp proof membranes are available here. It is vitally important, in particular with a floating floor that you do not fit any heavy objects (Such as fitted kitchens or islands) directly to the floor. An installation gap of 10-12mm must also be left around all 4 sides of the room including at doorways. Please refer to manufacturers guidelines for full installation instructions.
Cleaning & Maintenance Guide
The cleaning and maintenance of our Quick-Step Flooring is pretty much the same as with most Engineered Flooring. A sweep of a brush is all it should take to remove light dirt from your floor. For mopping, it is important you use a damp mop rather than a wet mop. If your floor is too wet, over time it may cause issues from water penetrating the joints. We advise the use of a PH neutral floor cleaner to ensure no damage to the floor. Also a spin mop or micro fibre mop should ensure the floor is not being overly wet.
